Tashiro (旧田代町;-kyutashiromachi) is a former town in present day Ōdate.

History

  • Tashiro Town was formed in 1955 from the merger of Yamase Village and Hayaguchi Town.
  • On June 20th, 2005, Tashiro combined with Ōdate town to become the new Ōdate City.

Sightseeing

Tashiro hosts some of the Shirakami Mountains in its north, as well as Mt. Tashiro. Both of them are great from climbing from spring through fall. Near Mt. Tashiro is the Yamase Dam (Formerly Iwase Dam) which is also worth checking out in the spring.
